Simple guidelines to speed up Boot Time
In some Windows tips, you need to have a specialist software (like - a registry cleaner) to complete the process. However, other steps can be easily followed using the tools provided by Windows.
Before doing anything, it is important for you to ascertain that you reach the same place from where you have started the process (initial point). In case things don’t happen accordingly. Therefore, a System Restore Point is required to be set.
Let us begin with simple things.
If you do not require all the fonts installed by various programs used by you, then better get rid of the useless ones.
A free font manager can assist you in performing this task.
Whenever your computer will start, other applications will also begin to run with it.
Some of these programs fall into the category that includes welcoming your antivirus software, firewall, etc.
But other applications come under a yourself category. The reason for keeping them in the yourself category is that you want these applications always available ready for use instead of starting them.
Programs such as the update service for Adobe Acrobat reader, some sort of instant messenger service, Skype, your webcam software, iTunes, the keylogger you installed to check your children aren’t doing naughty things, etc.
You may prefer that these applications will always remain available for use.
Some of the applications could be seen at the bottom of the screen near the clock. Others could be seen only upon checking the Task Manager.
However, you can check or remove them from the system by using the msconfig program that comes with Windows. You will get to see the list of autoloading applications through Startup tab. In fact, the autoloading applications become active every time the computer boots up.
The major inconvenience associated with Msconfig is that not much information is revealed by it. Thus, you need to do detailed research in order to know whether the programs listed by it are must-have or just nice-to-have.
Besides, computers come equipped with the Windows Registry.
Applications use the Windows Registry as a dumping ground or storage area.
Everything seems to be stored inside the Windows Registry.
Usually it is the place that stores recently opened files on your menus. It also stores your favorite applications’ size and startup position. Like too much fonts reduce the loading process of the computer, keeping too much things (that too of no use) in the registry also does the same and you will never get a fast Windows Vista.
Even though it is feasible to clean up Windows registry through built-in Regedit program (similar steps are to be followed as in case of Msconfig), you need great tolerance level. In case you take any wrong step, Windows will mess up or even stop working. Hence, let the software to perform the task.
